Powerful.

You don’t have to agree with everything that is said in this video.  All I ask is that you watch this YouTube clip and think about what has been said by these troops.

My Commentary

Our country has, unfortunately, become completely controlled by the Washington-Wall Street-Military-Industrial Complex.  And we as Americans have just accepted it.  Even worse, many of our community and religious leaders have bought into this same system.  I don’t know about you, but I have yet to find the words of Jesus advising us to go kill others in his name, yet here we are, doing it.  We launched a first strike war in Iraq and supported it in our churches.  Christian Leadership Fail.  God help us.

Our allegiance should ultimately be to God and humanity, not a red, white, and blue flag.  A man on the street in Iraq or Afghanistan has the same value in the eyes of God as a man on the street in America, yet we have decided that we are judge, jury, and executioner in order to protect a global corporate empire that worships money.  How messed up are we?

I love this country and the principles on which it was founded, but we have long since abandoned these concepts through neglect, and more importantly, by believing the propaganda.  We need to understand that we are bombarded daily with the corporate propaganda of consumerism and the political propaganda of wrapped-in-the-flag patriotism, neither of which is ultimately in our best interests.  We need to stand up to this corruption and really think about what is going on in our country.  We need to think about the rationale for the wars in which our country is engaged.  Somebody please tell me how attacking Libya is in our national interests, especially considering the fact that many of the rebels that we are supporting are members of Al Qaeda.

Personally, I am a gun owner and I believe in self-defense.  I also believe in a strong national defense.  However, supporting a strong national defense is quite different than supporting offensive military imperialism.  You don’t go around shooting people just because they don’t like you, or because you are afraid of them.  You create more enemies than friends by doing so and actually weaken your national security in the process.

Lastly, any politician or American that thinks it is cool and tough to start wars, needs to put their money where their mouth is, pick up a rifle and get their ass on the front line.  Otherwise, stick to domestic policy.  In conclusion, it is imperative that we all stop supporting these illegal and immoral wars and the continuing encroachment of the police state if we ever want to get our country back.  This is all I have to say for now; I am done ranting.

Very well said and it was a good reminder to me that we are all equal in God’s eyes…..something I needed to hear – especially when talking about the wars!
